Our Services

What is massage therapy?

Massage therapy is the manipulation of the soft tissues of the body (muscles, connective tissue, tendons, and ligaments) using various techniques to help alleviate stress in different areas of the body. Massage therapy involves treating the body with pressure, tension, and motion done by the therapist. This treatment has therapeutic effects on the body, helping to relieve muscle tension as well as promoting relaxation and well-being.

Massage therapy has undeniable results for the relief of a variety of discomfort stemming from stress, muscle overuse, and many chronic pain syndromes. Treatments can provide quicker recovery from accident-related pain conditions, such as whiplash, as well as helping to restore full range of motion to joints after an injury or surgery.

At HYM Fam, our massage therapists incorporate various techniques to tailor to our clients’ needs. All our therapists are members of the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO). We believe that massage therapy is important to better health and our main objective is to make sure all our clients feel better when they walk out.

First Timer

On arrival you will be greeted by reception.

You will be asked to kindly complete our “new client form” which only takes a couple of minutes. This helps us to get a better understanding of your preferences, priorities and injury background so we can provide you with better service.

Our therapist will introduce themselves to you and show you to your treatment room. If you arrive early, our staff will show you to the lounge area where you can relax before your treatment. We would also be more than happy to show you around our treatment rooms and fitness facilities if there is time before or after your treatment.

Our therapist will then perform an assessment on you, to gain a better understanding of your injury history and/or the condition of your range of motion and then agree on what areas take the most priority for treatment today.

Your therapist will then leave the room so you can change out of your main clothing, down to your undergarment or to your level of comfort.

When your therapist returns, they will begin hands on treatment; talk you through what they are finding, how they will help you improve it, and how you can help yourself to improve

Towards the end of the treatment the therapist will discuss what process you have made. Depending on your presenting condition, you may require a treatment plan to be put in place. This could be weekly visits, monthly or bi-monthly visits depending on your goals and outcomes you are hoping to achieve, and your response to the treatment

Your therapist will encourage you to keep up your water intake and if you are not familiar with remedial massage, please ensure you take the time to read our “what to expect after a treatment” section on our website.

After your treatment, return to the reception so that they can help you claim with your health insurance and make future bookings.

Booking Info

Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your treatment to complete a short consultation form and have a few moments to unwind from your busy day. If you are late for an appointment, we may have to customize your treatment time in order to be on schedule for our next guest.

We accept cash, interact, and credit cards (except AMEX). A deposit may be required for treatment bookings.

We require 24 hours of notice for cancellation to avoid being charged the full price for your treatment.
